Does my monitor fit a monitor arm?

A monitor fits only when four things match the exact arm: the monitor VESA mounting pattern, the monitor bare weight without its original stand, the screen and geometry supported by the arm, and the desk mounting requirements. Screen size alone is not enough.

What information do I need before buying?

1. Monitor make and model.
2. Bare weight without the original stand, from the monitor specification.
3. VESA mounting pattern, such as 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm.
4. Whether the monitor is flat, curved or ultrawide.
5. Desk thickness, material and clear space under and behind the mounting point.
6. How many monitors or laptops you plan to mount.

What is VESA?

VESA is the mounting-hole pattern on the rear of a display. It describes the spacing between holes, not every part of the physical fit. A monitor can have the correct VESA spacing but still need the right screws, spacers or a plate that fits its recessed back area.

My monitor says VESA compatible, but the plate will not sit flat. What now?

Check whether the VESA holes are recessed or surrounded by an uneven panel. The original monitor box or manual may include alternative screws, washers or spacers. What if my monitor has no VESA holes?

Check the manual first because some mounting points are hidden by a removable cover. If the monitor genuinely has no VESA provision, it cannot bolt directly to an arm. A model-appropriate adapter may be possible only when the adapter and arm both support the monitor shape and total load. Do not drill the monitor or use adhesive as a mounting method. Will a monitor arm fit my desk?

The desktop must be within the arm stated clamp or grommet range, structurally suitable and clear below the mounting point. A cable tray, rear support bar, drawer rail or hollow-core top can prevent safe installation even when the desk looks thick enough.

Can I mount an ultrawide or curved monitor?

Possibly, but check the bare weight, VESA pattern, arm range and the display depth or centre of gravity. A large curved monitor can place different leverage on an arm than a flat screen of the same diagonal size. Use the product-specific compatibility details rather than the screen size alone.

Can I put a laptop on a monitor arm?

Use a dedicated VESA laptop tray that fits the arm and supports the total laptop-plus-tray weight. A laptop must not sit directly on a bare VESA plate. Read the laptop-tray checklist.

Why does my monitor arm drop, rise or tilt?

First confirm the monitor sits inside the stated weight range. Then follow the exact arm instructions for tension adjustment. Do not force an adjustment screw. See the monitor-arm tension guide.

When should I ask for a fit check?

Ask before installing if the monitor has recessed or missing VESA holes, the desk is glass or hollow-core, the clamp area is blocked, the display is unusually large or curved, or the hardware instructions are unclear. Have the monitor model, bare weight, VESA measurement and a photo of the desk mounting area ready.
