Standing Desk for Three Monitors: Width, Depth, Arms and Load Planning

Three monitors turn a desk into a workstation. They also make a poor measurement decision expensive: a desktop can look wide enough in a product photo yet leave no clear clamp area, no room for a keyboard, or cables that pull tight when the desk rises.

Start with the layout, not the screen count

Measure each monitor's visible width and depth, then add the space needed for its stand or arm, speaker placement and a comfortable keyboard-and-mouse zone. Three monitors placed side by side need considerably more width than a central screen with two angled side screens. A portrait side monitor changes height and clearance too.

Check desk depth before desk width

Depth affects viewing distance and whether the monitor-arm base sits far enough behind your keyboard. A shallow desk can force large screens too close even when the desktop is wide. Mark the planned screen edge, keyboard position and arm base with masking tape before ordering.

A triple arm is useful when all three screens fit its published weight, VESA and size limits. Separate arms can give more independent positioning, but need separate clear mounting areas. Test cable travel
