A footrest is useful when a chair and desk cannot be adjusted to give stable foot support at the same time. It can also offer a changing foot position during seated work. It is not a substitute for setting seat height, seat depth and keyboard height correctly first.
When a footrest may help
Consider one when your feet do not rest securely after the chair is adjusted for comfortable typing, when the desk is too high to lower the chair further, or when you want a supported angle to change leg position during long seated sessions. Start by setting the chair: feet should have a stable surface, the seat should not press into the knee crease, and shoulders should be relaxed while typing.
Measure the available space
Check clear floor width beneath the desk, chair-wheel travel and the distance from the footrest to the wall or desk frame. The footrest should not create a tripping point or block normal chair movement. If a drawer or PC holder is under the desk, confirm it leaves enough room for your feet.
Choose height and angle deliberately
ULTI’s Flo Ergonomic Footrest | C60 has two height settings of 141 mm and 161 mm, a tilting platform from +20° to −20°, a non-skid surface and a 25 kg capacity. A fixed foot position can feel restrictive, so a gentle tilt may be useful; however, stability matters more than movement. Try the lower setting first and adjust only when your hips, knees and feet remain comfortable.
Use it as part of the workstation
- Set chair height and seat depth.
- Set keyboard and mouse height for relaxed shoulders.
- Place the footrest where both feet can rest evenly.
- Check the monitor after seated posture is stable.
- Change posture regularly rather than holding one position all day.
Pair this with ULTI’s chair adjustment guide and desk height guide. If a footrest makes the setup feel worse, revisit chair and desk height instead of forcing the accessory to solve the problem.
